A digital translation
of an old game
A collection of wallpapers dedicated to Meccano (Erector sets), a model construction system created in 1898 by the inventor Frank Hornby that transformed the toy industry in the 20th century. During his career as a graphic designer and artist, Karel Martens was inspired by Meccano pieces and reused them as graphic objects to generate compositions. Mechanic Records adds motion to his compositions. Each piece rotates and moves in a different way, creating a series of artworks made for the youtuber Otto Climan on the release of Apple iOS 15. Today it is used to animate wallpapers on the iPhone.
